The program that installs the gateway software can be obtained several ways:
- from the ENCO web (http://www.enco.com/download_area.htm).
- from the ENCO FTP site (ftp://ftp.enco.com/pub/win32/).
To install Gateway/Dist, locate and double click the SetupENCO-80x.exe or the setupgateway-##x.exe icon. This installs the Gateway package in the default directory (C:\gateway). Additional support files will be created automatically by running Gateway. Do not rename or move any of these support files.
Shortcuts will appear on your desktop within the ENCO Applications folder. This will make it easier to start the Gateway program. Additionally, users can place these shortcuts within the Windows Startup folder to ensure that starts Gateway automatically when the workstation is powered on and successfully starts.
To start,
double
click the Gateway icon.
Users can copy the shortcut icon into the Windows Startup Folder to have Gateway start automatically each time the workstation is powered on.
Additionally, administrators can modify the .BAT file that starts the DAD program. Within the .BAT file, one can un-remark and change the following lines:
@rem start dad -l%data_drive%
@start /high dad -l%data_drive%
@progs\sleep 20
@start /low /D\gateway \gateway\gateway –min
This allows Gateway to start 20 seconds after DAD has been started.

NOTE: Depending on your system configuration, you should always verify any changes with the system administrator. |
One can configure Gateway with several command line options. These options are as follows:
|
Option |
Purpose and Use |
|
/b |
This causes Gateway to load and run in system tray rather than Task Bar |
|
/t text |
This option places the specified text on Title bar to help identify the application (no spaces) |
|
/c##### |
Setting this option allows for "tracing" a particular cut number whereas ##### equals the cut number. This option must be used with setup/debug/enabled and will create the ‘cdebug.txt’ |
|
/genedebug |
This creates a general activity debugging file called ‘genedebug.txt’ |
|
/whyaudio |
This option creates the ‘why.debug’ containing reasons for the audio transfer |
Advanced users should note that Gateway can now be shutdown via a COMMAND LINE UTILITY called: SHUTDISTNOW. This program can be found in the \Gateway directory. Calling this program without a parameter will try to shut down Gateway running on the same machine. One can use an IP address (or resolvable name) as a command line parameter to shutdown a gateway/dist on another machine. For example: SHUTDISTNOW 10.44.44.44 or SHUTDISTNOW BACKUP
