Hi Gene, I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this inquiry, so feel free to move it if necessary.  My question has to do with the new product, "Presenter".

Presenter looks great, and it's a real nice upgrade to the windowed UI of DAD.  Can we assume that Presenter will be DAD at some point?  It does appear to be mainly a UI upgrade, and that's not meant as a disparagement in the least.  I'm just reading that it's built around the DAD engine, and works seamlessly in a DAD network.  In other words, it's not as if it's incompatible with current DAD products.  I'm thinking of what Windows 7 might be compared to XP, at least on the interface level.

Without giving up company secrets, does this mean an end-of-life to DAD (insofar as sales and version upgrades go) as we know it in the foreseeable future?

EDIT: To clarify my question, I'm really wondering if the Presenter interface is where DAD is heading somewhere down the line, NOT whether you'll stop supporting DAD.   I do understand that they are separate and distinct products at this point in time.

DAD is not going away. Presenter and DAD are "joined at the hip". Presenter uses and needs DAD.
One of things we strive for (like it or not) is maintaining as much of the old interfaces as possible so that legacy users don't have to learn anything new.
Presenter is a great new Air interface. Some site will love it - some sites won't need it at all. We realize that and won't let Presenter interfere with where DAD belongs.

Got it. Joe Myers (Enco guy) pointed out some examples of the differences in the two products to me. I can certainly understand how it would be very useful (not to mention atttractive) in those configurations that don't demand the standard DAD functionality/interface.

Whilst we are talking about this subject, one thing I'm not quite clear on is the way that Presenter is to be sold. Maybe I've missed something in the sales info but I'm not quite clear on a couple of things. (The stations I'm working at haven't upgraded yet so I've not been able to check the answer to this first question myself.)

Firstly, is there an additional charge for existing users for presenter or is it included for free with version 9+. Also, will it remain that way?

Following on from that, for new users is it included in the standard DAD full version or is it an optional extra?

Hi there!

As Gene said, DAD and Presenter are two different programs with a common audio engine, but significant differences in other ways. From the ENCO web page on Presenter: Also, from the web site about Presnter: 'You can build a new network of stations around Presenter or you can add it to existing ENCO
DAD systems, giving you the best of both worlds.'

You may purchase Presenter as a standalone product or current DAD users can add Presenter to an existing full DAD key at a special introductory price. Presenter and DAD will continue to be developed and sold as two different products. Contact ENCO Sales or your local dealer for more information.

While on the subject of communications, besides this very useful forum, ENCO is also publishing a monthly email 'Letter From DAD', and I would invite you to subscribe if you're not getting it already by going to:

http://www.enco.com/newsletterform.htm

Our May newsletter discussing Presenter in some detail is available at:

Thanks much!

Don
